Recently, targeted attacks which aim at stealing confidential information such as personal information from specific organizations have been steadily increasing. The information leakage incident that occurred at our university in 2016 was also due to a targeted e-mail attack.
There is a limit to how much of the targeted e-mail attacks can be prevented by technical means, so it is necessary for members within the organization to be able to appropriately handle suspicious e-mails when received. This year, as in last year, we plan to implement the security training (targeted e-mail) via e-mail which simulates actual attacks. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
To prevent targeted e-mail attacks, it is important that attachment files or URLs included in suspicious e-mails suspected of being targeted e-mails are not opened. In these e-mails, various "techniques for deception" are used to prevent recipients from feeling suspicous.
We have attached a file to help further understand targeted e-mails in the following URL.
Since this file describes how to recognize suspicious e-mails and how to deal with them, please refer to it before the training begins.
https://ict.kwansei.ac.jp/internal/mail-security-2019.html (Because it is limited on campus, you can not browse from outside the campus.)
When browsing from outside the university, please refer to the attached file in 【〈Public Folder〉-〈2. Notices〉-〈Regarding implementation of 2019 Security Training (Targeted E-mail)(2019.09.03)〉】.
